Our 1998 Snow Baby Picture Contest!
Sponsored By Michael Winters, the folks at The Golden Goose and yours truly :)

Our first annual Snow Baby Picture Contest is our way of expressing our deep appreciation to all those of our site visitors who have helped to make SnowBabySP's Place a success during our first full year on the internet!

Note this is a picture contest. Entries will be judged on artistic qualities and general appeal of images submitted. This affords all visitors a chance to win! So whether you have a large collection or a single piece, and regardless of the type snow babies you collect, ingenuity, creativity, originality and photgraphy skills are what will be assessed.

Note, too, this is a snow baby picture contest! Send me any picture you want, but if its of your naked Aunt Matilda, or similarly unrelated to snow baby collecting (as determined by me), you are not likely to win :)

  • Eligibilty - The contest is open to anybody anywhere subject only to the qualification that if this contest is illegal where ever the heck you are then you can't enter or win. Since I have not researched the entire world's laws, and have no intentions of doing so, you are on your own to determine whether you are eligible to participate. In the event of a conflict between your view and my view of illegality of your participation, my view shall prevail :)

  • Deadline - All entries must be electronically received, or postmarked if using snail mail, no later than December 31, 1998 as determined by my time which is Eastern Standard Time in the United States of America. All snow baby images submitted subsequent to November 1, 1998 are considered entries in the contest. There is no limit on the number of image submissions you wish to send.

  • Use of Images - Winning images will be featured in the January update of the Spotlght! page here at SnowBabySP's Place. In addition, images submitted may appear from time to time at one or more of our web pages. I have cost and space limitations that are imposed by my web hosting service so I cannot promise that every image will appear on the web site, but I will try to feature contestants' images as best I can within these practical limitations.

  • No Purchase Necessary - Every list of contest rules I've ever seen has a statement that no purchase is necessary so I figured I better throw that rule in here too! There are no fees or other costs of entering the contest but you bear all costs of creating and submitting images. If you submit via snail mail and would like your pictures returned after I scan them, please include a self-adressed, postage prepaid envelope.

  • Copyright and Similar Laws - By your submision of an image you expressly represent and warrant that you are the creator of the image and the rightful holder of copyright. Image submission also constitutes the grant of a license to SnowBabySP's Place to republish your images at our web site in any of our feature pages. Winners will be required to sign a certification of copyright prior to receipt of prizes awarded.

  • Shipping Cost of Prizes Winners located outside of the continental United States or Canada are required to pay cost of shipping and insuring prizes sent to other locations.

  • Identity of Contestants and Winners - The names, addresses and other personal information of contestants will not be revealed to anybody by SnowBabySP's Place without the express written consent of contestants (which I have no intentions of soliciting except as may be necessary to protect myself from any potential legal hassles that may arise). Entries appearing on one of the feature pages of SnowBabySP's Place will be credited consistent with our guidelines found on the Contributions page. So basically, if you are concerned that there won't really be any prizes or winners and that I'm just running some kind of scam by running this contest, than don't enter because as always I intend to protect the confidentiality of site visitors who participate in the contest :)

  • Other Stuff - Since its not my desire to get in any legal trouble over this contest, the rules are subject to change at any time without notice to anybody and any changes, including any termination of this contest for any reason, will be at my sole discretion and will be given such effect as I deem necessary to protect myself from any hassles that may arise with anybody anywhere.

Michael Winters, a.k.a. D56Pride@aol.com, is one of the generous sponsors of our contest. Michael is a extremely knowledgable collector, newsletter/web site publisher, and secondary market maker of Department 56 collectibles. The breadth of his knowledge, as well as his warm and friendly demeanor, has worked to make Michael a much sought after speaker at seminars ands gatherings throughout the United States and Canada. He's an interesting fellow, and you can read much more about his resume here: Michael Winters. Michael's publication, Village Pride! is one of the leading publications of its kind. Although largely for collectors of D56 villages, there is very often a great deal of late breaking news about Snowbabies and Snowbunnies as well as an occasional guest article by yours truly. Be sure to visit freqently at Michael's web site, Village Pride!, for D56 news often reported before any other on or offline source. Thank you much Michael for sponsoring our contest! michael.gif - 22369 Bytes

goose.gif - 14497 Bytes The Golden Goose (Pat and Lavern, a.k.a Waxwater@aol.com) are our second sponsors. The Golden Goose carries a complete line of Department 56 villages, Snowbabies and Snowbunnies. They have a great room in the store, the miniature room, where they stock many small items made by local people collectibles displays. They carry Wm. Britain soliders that are super quality and go well with the castles and other large buildings in the village lines. The Golden Goose is located in Occoquan, VA just off exit 160 on Route 95. The phone number is 703-494-4964. They do ship and will try hard to help collectors who are looking for particular items. The store offers display courses with Carl and Rita Carter and you can call and check the schedule or request a schedule to be mailed to you. Look for The Golden Goose web site to be up in early 1999. A warm thank you goes out to Rick Mazur and the folks at The Golden Goose for their kind sponsorship of our contest :)
